Mike Butler
Co-Founder, Lead Vocalist & Manager
Mike Butler, co-founder of The Papas and Mamas, is dedicated to keeping the timeless harmonies and spirit of The Mamas and the Papas alive for modern audiences. As the group’s lead male vocalist and manager, he has helped establish the band as one of the world’s only authentic tributes in both sight and sound, faithfully recreating the magic of the original 1960s icons.
From Las Vegas casinos and prestigious performing arts centers to multiple appearances on the sold-out Flower Power Cruise, Mike has brought this legendary music to stages across the country and beyond. His leadership also guided the group into acclaimed productions such as the award-winning “Summer of Love” show in San Francisco.
With a lifelong passion for classic rock and a commitment to excellence, Mike continues to grow The Papas and Mamas’ reputation as a top-tier tribute act, delivering unforgettable live experiences that transport audiences straight back to the heart of the 1960s.
Walter New
Musician, Producer & Vocalist
Walter New is a multi-talented musician, producer, and vocalist whose artistry helps define the signature sound of The Papas and Mamas. An Austin, Texas native now based in Los Angeles, Walter has been a longtime friend and collaborator, bringing a deep musical connection to the group’s dynamic.
Known for his rich vocal harmonies and exceptional skill on the 12-string guitar, Walter adds texture and authenticity to every performance. Behind the scenes, his experience as a producer and arranger plays a vital role in faithfully recreating the timeless sound of The Mamas and the Papas, making him an integral part of the band’s success
Natalie Wilde
Vocalist (“Mama” Michelle Phillips)
Natalie Wilde, a founding member of The Papas and Mamas, brings her remarkable talent and versatility to the role of “Mama” Michelle Phillips. An accomplished songwriter, studio singer, and vocal arranger, Natalie’s career spans a wide range of musical experiences.
She has written original songs for film and television, recorded background vocals for notable artists, and performed live on stages across the country. Natalie also showcased her dynamic range as a featured performer in a rock opera and continues to write and perform original psychedelic rock with her friends.
Her rich background in performance and vocal arrangement makes Natalie an essential part of the group’s signature sound, helping The Papas and Mamas authentically recreate the harmonies and magic of the original Mamas and the Papas.
Julia Gothold
Vocalist (“Mama” Cass Elliot)
Julia Gothold, a Los Angeles native, has been immersed in music for as long as she can remember — singing before she could talk and playing the piano soon after. Over the years, she has performed in choirs, musicals, and multiple bands, while also pursuing her passion for songwriting and performing original music under the name “Julie Mercy.”
Having grown up singing the timeless songs of The Mamas and the Papas, Julia is honored to bring the role of “Mama Cass” to life with authenticity and heart. Her powerful vocals and deep connection to the music make her an essential part of The Papas and Mamas’ signature harmonies.
